Who do we work with?
At Insight, we work with players who want to improve, who embrace learning, and are looking for refined goals. Insight coaches are not here to motivate players – we have enough motivated players to keep us busy for a very long time. Truthfully, we recommend camps and “academies” to parents of many players who will not reap the benefits of private or small group training. Private training is not for everyone and if it won’t be of value to the player, we will not waste their time.
What is different about Insight’s space?
1) We work with a maximum of four players at a time. Other soccer training programs with similar space restrictions accept up to 14 players in a single camp. This is completely unrealistic. While our space is small (3500 square ft), players need a reasonable amount of space for the types of touches that occur in a match.
2) Our four walls allow for an infinite amount of angles, rebounds, and activities while minimizing wasted time collecting stray balls at an open field.
What is an evaluation session?
An evaluation session is the first session a player or group of players has with an Insight coach. This allows us to see whether the player or players attending have a desire to improve. It also allows the player to see if they enjoy the experience of a private/small group session. This type of training is not for everyone and we are transparent about this. If the player is coachable and enjoys the session, a coach will recommend a training cadence and some thing to work on before the next session.
What is special about Insight’s coaches?
While Insight Soccer coaches all have a history of playing at a high level, the primary function of an Insight coach is to be a great teacher. The reason why former professionals don’t always make for the best coaches is because they do not effectively teach the things they know.
The second reason Insight coaches are so good is because they enable players to make better decisions in games. The best coaches do not have to constantly scream or be a joystick coach during games. Players should be able to make great decisions on their own if the practice sessions are effective.
Do we recommend any camps or programs?
Plenty. While Insight Soccer Training is completely club-neutral, we do recognize that bigger camps, like ones hosted by Universities and High School have their place. We also recommend Coerver for players 11 and younger as well as German-Style football camps like Fussbally. Most importantly, we recommend players develop a relationship with the ball – programs and channels like Prolific Soccer, and 7MLC give you the tools online to help improve that relationshsip with the ball. Insight Soccer also has 30 videos of technical footwork players can move through at their own pace.
What technical and physical attributes does Insight Soccer prioritize?
Insight Soccer Training is not simply a footwork program. On the technical side, we teach a directional first touch out of pressure with various parts of the foot. We teach framing and body shape to protect the ball from opponents. We teach awareness and spatial recognition with a plethora of tools and activities. On the physical side, we prioritize balance and bodily control. Soccer strength and speed are quite a bit different than other sports, but we do encourage athletes to participate in more than just soccer, as it helps develop athletic attributes.
